"Caa-n't ggett wwwarm"

(Danna)
Today I ran 8 miles. Thought it would be a great run- quality time with me and my I-pod. I ran 11 with my mom on Saturday. I thought today would be a walk in the proverbial park- only the park was 19 degrees. I felt so heavy and so slow and so tired the whole run. I was excited to try out my new gear I got for Christmas- including Yaktrax, but I was so sweaty from the beginning of the run- not a good thing when it's in the teens. I walked a bit at the mid-point to talk on the phone, between that, being a sweaty moose, and changing my running direction- it was all over. By the time I got home I was SHHHIIIIVVVERRRRIIIINNNGGGG! We have noticed that when you let yourself get that cold, It's hard to warm up. Even after a long, hot-water-tank-emptying-shower, I am still cold. This is how Adam found me when he got home.

Yes- two hats, three sweatshirts, in a heated home, one foot from the fireplace. I won't tell you how many hours it was later. Moral of the story- Don't cool down mid-run when it's 19 degrees. And in answer to your next question- yes, duh.

I completely empathize. This is the position I use everyday during the winter. Right in front of the fire place, blanket on, and hot chocolate at my fingertips. There have been times it's taken me weeks to finally feel warm.

Summer? Summer? Wherefore art thou summer?

On another note, you've been an inspiration to me to begin exercising again. I actually thought to myself I could run a half marathon with you soon - as in 12 months "soon." The comment you made about not letting three days go by without exercise has been a great measuring stick for me to use.

So thank you for the great example. When I'm complaining that I can't go down to my coldish basement to run on my treadmill, I think of you.

I AGREE! It's been cold in WA too and I just can't get warm and I know if I stop running and let myself cool down that I get soooo cold, so you just can't stop! SO, I spoke with Mom and we are all going to enter the lottery for the St George Marathon.. fun huh! Jena, that gives you time to join us! And Mom doesn't have a choice, she has to. How could she pass this experience up! BUT my goal.. to run the St George and qualify for Boston.. this will be tough, but the challenge is on!

Man you guys post a lot - I don't know if I can keep up! I hope you get whatever you're trying to get and I hope you're warm now. Take care.

Awww, you look so cute by the fire. that was sooo nice to have after the run today. What a good time! I love when the run and the after-run events take up a whole day. It's just good "me" time (or girl time!). Wanna run tomorrow?

PS: Completely agree with the post! I am always cold all day on the days we run too btw!
